In Stockholm, the Candela P-12 electric hydrofoil made 741 crossings on public route 89: 30 minutes versus 45 to 55, 22.5% more passengers and 66% less energy. Candela sold ten ferries to the Maldives and raised SEK 77.6M in August 2025. The idea: an operator or integrator that opens hydrofoil shuttle routes for European cities with a river, lake or harbour, handling route studies, charging and operations.
The technology
Underwater wings (foils) lift the hull out of the water above a certain speed. Drag drops, which sharply cuts the energy needed and allows battery-electric propulsion, with little wake.
